Today in Prime Minister's Questions, David Cameron got busy slamming Gordon Brown for suggesting changes to the electoral system. Of course, changing the electoral system was his own idea just a couple of weeks ago, but that's not the point, is it David? Not the point at all.
I'm not a Labour voter. I just feel a great sense of injustice at what is going on here.
Cameron says we should have fixed term parliaments, so we all know when the elections will be. And I heartily agree with him. If we had a fixed term, Gordon Brown wouldn't have been able to call an early election, and we could have been spared the sight of Cameron jumping up and down screaming for one like a badly behaved five year old in the supermarket who has been told he can't have sweets until the party. Maybe if we all knew when the election would be, our Conservative MPs would have spent their time in the chamber actually asking questions about policy instead of whining about whether Gordon's time was up so they could have a go. Yes, David - fixed terms would be a great idea, because they would shut you - and the crazed media that's on your bandwagon - up.
I think in May 2010 Gordon will call an election. The Labour Party will lose, and David Cameron will become Prime Minister. This will happen because David has charisma and good looks. He also presents the only credible alternative a "failed" government who happened to be in power when we lost all our money to a global crash caused primarily by the capitalist policies of the US equivalent of the Conservative Party. How ironic.
There will be a few months when the media are on his side, and after that they will decide it's time for him to go too.
And one more thing. Of course Gordon Brown is an "unelected Prime Minister". We do not elect Prime Ministers. We elect MPs, and those MPs form governments. In 2005, we quite legitimately elected the Labour Party and gave them the right to form a government for up to five years. If they want to change their leader, that's up to them. They are still the party we elected, and until they call another election, the best thing we as a nation can do is support them in their leadership, because it's the hardest job in the world.
