The Blurb: August 2007
It's a mini world record
Wednesday 29 August 2007 3.06 pm

On a beautiful sunny Bank Holiday Monday (beautiful sun genuinely being the weather I associate with bank holidays in my mind, by the way), 310 minis passed through the Lee Abbey Estate.
They do this every year, but this year was special. Not only did I have a day off and so the Mini Rally became part of a fabulous day with Clare a month after we started "going out", but also the minis set a new Guiness World Record for the largest Mini Rally! So a splendid occasion all round.

The Cartoon Book: First Edition
Monday 20 August 2007 6.06 pm

Back on 3 June, I posted on this blog that something exciting was coming. I remained decidely cagey about what it was, but I told you it was about 130 pages and it was yellow.
This is it.
It's 138 pages, it contains 98 cartoons, and it's a cartoon portrait of Lee Abbey in various exciting categories. The print run is just 100, but even at five pounds, many of them have sold already. It's quite exciting! And people are even asking me to sign them. Maybe they think that one day I will be famous. :o)
So here we are - it's my first book! True, it's not officially published, since I produced it myself, but it is professionally printed, at least. It's a start.

New beginnings and train journeys
Saturday 4 August 2007 11.49 am

I've just returned to my family's home for a holiday from Lee Abbey for 6 days. When I stepped off the train yesterday, I saw a Bath which is already looking quite dramatically different. The concrete monstrosities (left) have been replaced by a very large building site, and soon (well, soon-ish), Bath will have a great new shopping centre if the planners are to be believed. It's good to see it all beginning at last, and although the current building site looks even more of a mess than what was there before, we know that in time we'll see a fabulous transformation.
Speaking of new beginnings, fellow Community member Clare Johnston and I are trying something rather new at the moment - a Relationship! Please pray for us, and for God to guide us with wisdom, both about how this should turn out and about how we live together in the Lee Abbey Community. I have a feeling that God is building something fabulous here too - but it may also look and feel to some a little like a messy construction site at first... :o)
